Modernism Week: Corian®️ Design Transforms Mid-Century Modern Spaces

Corian® Design showcased its versatility, aesthetics & limitless design possibilities with the Limón House, a boutique, one-group hotel & Featured House at the 11th annual Palm Springs Modernism Week. Designed byH3K Home+Design, in partnership with Willis, the space incorporatesCorian® Solid Surface, Corian® Quartz &Corian® Endurathroughout — including in a luxury kitchen, entertaining spaces plus a spa & barbeque area. Founders of HK3 Howard Hawkes & Kevin Kemper noted "The Corian brand was perfect for everything we wanted to do on the property," with Howard adding, “I really enjoyed the different options, they’re all so varied & unique.”

Corian® for both interior & exterior applications were provided by Willis, a Curator of Premium Design Materials and a sponsor of Modernism Week. John Topic, Director of Marketing & Communications at Willis said, “As a major sponsor for the past six years, Willis & our brand partners, including Corian® Design, support Modernism Week’s mission to celebrate & foster the appreciation of mid-century architecture & design. We’re also pleased to showcase our materials at CAMP to help inspire and educate both consumers & design professionals on surface selection and use.”

The luxury kitchen features Corian® Quartz Coarse Carrara which Kevin notes was selected because of its durability in high-use spaces, along with its beautiful aesthetic. Adjacent to the kitchen is a wet bar also featuring Coarse Carrara. The designers chose Corian Quartz® Coarse Carrara for this open-concept space to harmonize the design elements in the room and ensure durability in high-use environments.

Moving to the dining area, the focal point is a custom table made with Corian® Solid Surface colors in Sea Grass, Sparkling White & Verdant creating a striking linear design. Initially having difficulty finding a table to fit the space, the duo ultimately created a custom table & chose Corian® Solid Surface for its ease of customization & cleaning as well as its virtually seamless aesthetics. Howard notes “It’s perfect! We got exactly what we wanted, it’s easy to clean… it has exceeded our expectations.”

Taking things outside, the outdoor kitchen & entertaining space includes a Corian® Endura counters in Ancient Marble. Needing a surface that could withstand the Palm Springs environment as well as look great was key, so Corian® Endura  was a perfect choice. Offering high-design aesthetics as well as scratch, stain, high-heat & UV resistance, it was ideal for this outdoor space. Kevin goes on to say, Corian® Endura  “gives you an amazing vibe & feel of real marble…in a BBQ setting real marble is not ideal because it’s a very porous surface, it stains, so having a surface that looks like marble is important.” Howard adds in “it’s the cleanability [of Corian® Endura ] — it doesn’t stain, you just wipe it right down.”

Corian® Design is proud to have been showcased at such an iconic event & gives special thanks to Willis & HK3 Home+Design for their work using Corian® Design surfaces. Visit corian.com to learn more.
