HOW DOES WIRELESS CHARGING WORK?
Wireless power, also known as inductive coupling, uses narrow magnetic fields that are a natural part of how electrical current moves through wires. It starts by creating a magnetic field around a hidden electrical coil. The receiving device has a hidden coil that can receive the magnetic energy created, thereby transferring power wirelessly.
WHAT DO I NEED TO CHARGE MY DEVICE USING CORIAN® CHARGING SURFACE?
Some devices already include built-in support for wireless charging. If your device does not have this capability, you can enable your device by plugging an external adaptor into its charging port or by using a case specifically designed for wireless charging. Cases and adapters are readily available on online stores such as Amazon.com or other electronic retailers.
DOES DUPONT OFFER AN ADAPTER FOR MY EXISTING DEVICES?
DuPont offers a Wireless Charging Ring which acts as an adapter. It comes in several different variations depending on the type of device you have. The Ring is plugged into your device’s charging port and acts as a receiver of the magnetic energy created by the technology embedded in the Corian® solid surface or Zodiaq® quartz surface. IS WIRELESS CHARGING FASTER THAN WIRED CHARGING?
Wireless charging receivers will charge your phone at approximately the same rate as standard 5W wired charging.
CAN YOU CHARGE OTHER DEVICES BESIDES SMARTPHONES?
Yes, DuPont™ Corian® Charging Surface uses technology that is scalable and versatile. It can be used to charge a range of devices depending upon the specific makeup of the wireless charging spots. Most wireless charging units are initially configured to support smartphones and other devices, such as small tablets. Larger tablets may charge, but at a much slower rate.
HOW CAN I MAXIMIZE THE EFFICIENCY OF USING WIRELESS CHARGING?
Proper device placement ensures maximum charging efficiency. As a rule, the closer the device’s receiver is to the transmitter, the more efficient the wireless charging will be. For example, you may wish to place your device face down to get the charging ring closer to the surface and the transmitter.
CAN A LAPTOP BE CHARGED?
No. A laptop requires higher energy to charge.
WHAT ACCESSORIES ARE REQUIRED TO USE WIRELESS CHARGING?
Smartphones that are enabled with built-in wireless charging capability (Qi capable) will need no other accessories. However, some older models may not have the built-in capability, for those, you will need a Wireless Charging Case, a Wireless Charging Ring or an external adaptor. A package of Wireless Charging Rings will come with the Individual Wireless Charging Unit.
WHICH WIRELESS CHARGING STANDARDS ARE SUPPORTED?
We offer multiple versions of charging solutions within the Corian® Charging Surface product family. Our DuPont™ Corian® Charging Unit – Individual has dual-compatibility, meaning it is compatible with both PMA and Qi standards and work with receivers that are compliant with the PMA 3.0 or WPC Qi 1.1.2 (or later) standards such as phones, adaptors or cases that have built in PMA or Qi receivers.
Corian® branded Version 1.5 Powermat® Technologies PMA-3 Wireless Charging Rings and Version 1.5 Duracell Powermat® PMA-3 rings are compatible with the DuPont™ Corian® Charging Unit – Individual and Powermat® Platform units. These will work with phones or other devices, though some cases may not have enough clearance to plug in the rings. Older Version 1.0 Duracell Powermat® Rings are not compatible with the DuPont™ Corian® Charging Unit – Individual units.
HOW CLOSE DOES MY DEVICE NEED TO BE TO THE CHARGING SPOT TO CHARGE WIRELESSLY?
The device’s receiver must be directly on top of the Wireless Charging Unit. This ensures that the transmitter in the Wireless Charging Unit and the receiver in the device can transmit power.
CAN I USE MY PHONE WHILE ITS CHARGING?
Yes, as long as it stays on the Wireless Charging Unit.
HOW MANY DEVICES CAN BE CHARGED AT ONCE?

This is a single charging unit that, once installed, is a plug-and-play system that works instantly for those who are ready to power up. With the ability to install one or a series of units for multiple users, the Individual Unit creates a seamless solution for most settings.
DO THE CHARGING SPOTS HAVE ACCESS TO MY PERSONAL INFORMATION ON MY PHONE WHEN I USE WIRELESS CHARGING?
No, the Individual Unit does not access phones.
SHOULD CUSTOMERS BE CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF WIRELESS CHARGING?

CAN YOU POTENTIALLY BE SHOCKED BY THE WIRELESS CHARGING SPOT?
No. The Charging Unit transfers energy, not electricity. The transfer of electricity is done by means of magnetic induction. There is no electrical current flowing between the transmitter and the receiver.
IS IT POSSIBLE FOR WIRELESS CHARGING TO DAMAGE A CUSTOMER’S DEVICE?
No. Power coming from wireless charging is regulated in the same way as power coming from a wired charger.
CAN DEVICES SUCH AS PHONES OVERHEAT OR OVERCHARGE USING WIRELESS CHARGING?
IS IT NORMAL FOR THE DEVICE, RECEIVER OR SURFACE TO FEEL WARM WHEN CHARGING?
Yes, the device, receiver, or surface will often feel very warm by simply recharging. With wireless charging, the surface may also get warm which is a natural byproduct of charging. This Wireless Charging Unit is UL and CE certified and has been thoroughly tested for product safety. Your device may feel warm whether being charged wirelessly or plugged into an outlet.
As a rule, the closer the receiver is to the transmitter, the more efficient the wireless charging will be and the less heat is generated. Proper device placement ensures maximum charging efficiency and minimizes the amount of heat generated.
WILL USING WIRELESS CHARGING DECREASE THE EFFICIENCY OF MY BATTERY OVER TIME?
No. You should expect the same battery longevity as charging with a wall outlet.
HOW IS CORIAN® CHARGING SURFACE TECHNOLOGY INTEGRATED INTO CORIAN® OR ZODIAQ®?
An authorized Corian® or Zodiaq® fabricator/installer has the needed expertise to install the Individual Wireless Charging Unit underneath the surface. This requires the fabricator/installer to mill out an area on the underside of the surface to enable the induction process to occur.
I ALREADY HAVE A CORIAN® OR ZODIAQ® SURFACE. CAN THE CORIAN® CHARGING SURFACE BE RETROFITTED INTO MY EXISTING TOP?
For residential and commercial installations, the Individual Wireless Charging Unit needs to be installed at the time of the initial fabrication of the top.
CAN CORIAN® CHARGING SURFACE BE ADDED TO OTHER SURFACE MATERIALS?
The Individual Wireless Charging Unit technology has been designed and tested for use in Corian® and Zodiaq® installations. We have not evaluated the technology in other materials.
IS THERE A WARRANTY ON CORIAN® CHARGING SURFACE?
The Individual Wireless Charging Unit is covered under a 1-year product replacement warranty. The Powermat® units are covered by a warranty from Powermat. The surface material is covered by the Corian® or Zodiaq® warranty when this technology is properly installed by an authorized fabricator/installer.
