It's the kitchen that sells the home

Classic Homebuilding, Inc., Westborough, Massachusetts

Mother Nature created the setting. Developer/builder Lynne Brainard took over from there. Brainard set out to build a model home as a cornerstone for her new Woodland Preserve community of custom homes in Westborough, Massachusetts.

"But, as the house became complete, everyone wanted to buy it," Brainard says. "They say the kitchen sells the house and, in this case, it did."

Welcoming the light.

Brainard chose Corian® in Vanilla for kitchen surfaces and had birch cabinetry lacquered to match. At the center of the house, the airy monochromatic kitchen welcomes light from surrounding rooms. Black appliances and an Ubatuba granite top on the cooking island provide dramatic contrast.

"Our homes are as much a fashion statement as the clothes we wear," Brainard says. "Corian® gave us an opportunity to create a fashion statement we couldn't with granite."

"This business is about fashion, not just wood and brick," Brainard believes. In one of the model home's bathrooms, rich cherry cabinetry contrasts with cool hues of Corian® in Glacier White and Emerald. In a powder room, cabinetry is lacquered to match a vanity top and bowl of Corian® in Vanilla.
